Thematic Video Game genres

A video game is basically a structured form of action, often undertaken for pure fun or entertainment, and at times used as an educational instrument. Games are very different from work, which generally is carried out only for remuneration; games are often an expression of cultural or artistic views and are therefore not primarily carried out for money. There are many different types of video games available on the market, from the classic arcade game to the massively multi-player online game; however, it is important to be aware that certain games have in some way been deliberately developed to stimulate the sexual desires of the human species. This is not a new concept, however, ancient games such as the Sexual Tenderness of the Bear game have been found to contain suggestive themes. Today, games involving sexual innuendo are very popular amongst both adult and children alike.

When it comes to game mechanics, there are many different types of mechanics used within video games. All of these different types of mechanics can be described as defining specific gameplay elements, the implementation of which determines the theme of the game. For example, action games involve the player controlling a character, who can make use of weapons or vehicles to combat enemies or other characters. Although the primary focus is always combat, different genres of video games also deal with puzzle gameplay, racing, skill-testing, visual novel, crafting, cooking, dating simulation, hidden objects and many other genres.

Adventure games take the narrative approach, whereby the player assumes the role of a protagonist, and takes on quests to find a mythical or magical object or to prevent something bad from happening. In an adventure game, players are almost always rewarded or given points whenever they complete a quest. Players can also get bonuses or earn experience points when they are logged on to the Internet. Some adventure games are single player, where the player takes on the role of a single character, and may have to navigate a small-screen mitigate such as a mouse trap or a sea treasure hunt. Some other genres of video game are multiplayer games, in which players can interact with other players online; some have players take on the roles of animals interacting with humans, while others are role-playing games in which the player assumes the role of another character in an interactive virtual environment.
