Product Overview:

Contains a unique blend of probiotics that work together to improve digestion. Probiotics including L. acidophilus, various bifidobacteria, and various lactobacilli have shown to improve gastrointestinal symptoms associated with lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (e.g. pain, flatulence), and general stomach malaise (e.g. diarrhea). Indur Probiotic-25 not only benefits gastrointestinal health and immunity, but also vaginal health for optimal microbiota balance and protection against infection. Indur Probiotic-25 helps maintain general gastrointestinal health for daily digestion and optimal microbiota balance. Unlike other probiotics that contain 4 to 10 billion colony forming units (CFU), Indur Probiotic-25 contains 25 billion CFU. Consuming these beneficial probiotics at an optimal amount and quality is especially important for those who don’t consume a copious amount of cultured dairy products.

Expert advice

  • Don't take nutritional supplements and medications at the same time but instead wait 1.5 to 2 hours. Some medications like antibiotics may impact absorption and effectiveness. You should consult with your physician or pharmacist about any potential interactions.
About the Ingredients:

L. acidophilus DDS®-1 is a specific strain of the L. acidophilus species and is one of the most well-studied probiotic strains. It is well-adapted to survive harsh conditions (acid, bile and oxygen), which might be encountered in the human GI tract. This strain helps discourage harmful bacteria from colonizing the GI tract because it lowers the intestinal pH and also adheres to intestinal epithelial cells and crowds out undesirable bacteria. Numerous studies and clinical trials have demonstrated that the DDS®-1 strain:

• Supports a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria

• Produces lactase to promote the digestion of lactose-containing products

• Provides immune system support

L. salivarius is a species of beneficial bacteria that has been shown to resist low pH conditions. It has also been shown to support healthy immune system function by modulating certain cytokines (IL-10 and IL-12). In vitro studies have shown that L. Salivarius strongly adheres to human epithelia cell lines. This interaction with the mucosa demonstrates its support of the intestinal immune system.

Lactobacilli and Lactococcus (L. casei, L. plantarum, L. paracasei, L. brevis, L. gasseri, L. rhamnosus, L. bulgaricus, L. lactis) are located in the small intestine and produce lactic acid. Many strains of bacteria from the Lactobacillus family have been shown to promote regularity, support urogenital and vaginal health as well as produce the lactase enzyme and protect the gut lining from unwanted materials.

Bifidobacteria (B. lactis, B. breve, B. infantis, B. bifidum, B. longum) are located in the colon and produce lactic and acetic acids, making the gut a very inhospitable place for unwanted materials. Bifidobacteria have been shown to promote regularity, even while traveling abroad.

Streptococcus thermophilus is also a lactic acid producer which lines the gut wall to provide a barrier from unwanted materials, promotes regularity and produces the lactase enzyme.

What Research is Saying:

Probiotics have been shown to reduce digestive discomfort and symptoms of IBS. [1] Lactobacillus GG, a variant of L. casei sps rhamnosus, has been extensively researched and recognized for its benefits on traveler's diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and relapsing Clostridium difficile colitis, and overall intestinal immunity. [2]

Acidophilus and bifidobacteria has shown to improve lactose digestion and tolerance in adults and children. [3] [4] [5] The DDS-1 strain of Lactobacillus acidophilus has shown to safely improve abdominal symptom scores and reduce diarrhea, cramping, and vomiting upon consumption of lactose. [6]

Lactobacillus salivarius has shown to rebalance of altered intestinal microbiota results with positive effects on the immune system and skin. [7]

The human vagina is consists of a range of microbes from a pool of over 50 species. Lactobacilli are the most common, particularly in healthy women. Any change in vaginal microbiota can lead to infection. Lactobacillus strains have shown to disrupt bacterial vaginosis and yeast biofilms, inhibiting the growth of urogenital pathogens. Probiotic use for vaginal health has shown to hasten cure rates and prevent reocurrences. [8]

Probiotic consumption has shown to improve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) including distension, bloating, pain, flatulence, and overall symptom severity. [9] A number of studies have shown statistically significant benefits of probiotic strains including Lactobacillus GG in the treatment of acute diarrhea including cases due to rotavirus. [10]
