Fun Fact About Gaming – There Are Dozens of Genres of Gaming

Are you familiar with what gaming is? Gaming is the activity or hobby of playing video games, typically using a personal computer or gaming console. In the last few decades, the industry has grown so much that now it consists of a huge range of different types of games, from Role Playing Games (like Ultima, aria, andaria) to first person shooters like Counter-Strike, and more. Even basic board games like Chess have been touched by the gaming industry.

Now, we will discuss the fun fact about gaming: there are dozens of different genres of gaming, each with its own set of rules, goals, and rewards. For instance, racing games can include racing car engines, bike engines, racing tracks, and more, while other examples include puzzle, arcade, adventure, simulation, dress up, card, and board games. Even some “dating” genre games (dating simulation, for example) fall under this broad umbrella. There are even more genres within each genre, but we’ll talk about those in another article.

The next fun fact about gaming is that there are hundreds of companies that produce this hobby. This includes major names like Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, and Playdom, to lesser known ones like Xevious, Popcap, and Widescreen. Many of the well-known gaming companies are making a name for themselves by creating new games and genres, and/or licensing their existing titles to other companies.
