Female Gaming

Gaming has become the time consuming action-packed fun for millions of people from all walks of life. Video games have a variety of formats, from desktop to handheld devices, to the Internet and gaming consoles. Although gaming is often considered the exclusive domain of young males, it is becoming more popular among women and girls. For example, Super Mario attracts a good number of female players. A game console is another source of female players.

The best selling game console, Sony PlayStation 2, was launched in the U.S. in November of 2021, immediately following the war in Iraq. The war created a need forertainment and gaming options. A video game console or computer game is a multimedia computer game that entails interaction with a user interface or external input device including a joystick, trigger, keyboard, or movement-sensitive device – to produce visual output on the user’s system. Today there are literally hundreds of different types of video games for PC or gaming consoles.

Some traditional gaming cultures have embraced online gaming and virtual markets such as World of Warcraft or Second Life, both of which require immense dedication and time commitment, though these genres are rapidly being replaced by more casual and easy to play video games. In the face of this global surge in casual gaming, many traditional gaming cultures are finding new ways to distinguish themselves. For example, certain arcades devoted to arcades-style video games, mini-games, pool and billiards tables have emerged in many metropolitan areas. This new face of gaming has created a new gaming culture, which has been shaped and is being shaped by some of the most prominent names in entertainment and pop culture entertainment.
