Computer games, often abbreviated as “PC games” or “ORPG games” are played on a computer or other form of interactive media. A video game is a computer or video game that involves direct interaction with an interactive user interface or input device – including a mouse, keyboard, joystick, or other motion sensitive device – to produce visual feedback to the player. PC games have grown in popularity since their inception, and there are thousands of online PC games available today. The primary target demographic for PC games is male adults, though there is some evidence that children may play online PC games as well.
PC gaming has taken off in a big way, and it’s no surprise to anyone who has seen the prevalence of subscription services for online multiplayer games such as World of Warcraft. One of the primary driving forces behind this growth has been the advent of time limits. Time limits make many games more difficult and time-consuming, and they add another challenge to the development of next-gen consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox. Many experts believe that the widespread use of time limits in massively multi-player online games such as World of Warcraft is partially responsible for the recent trend toward PCs.
Since the introduction of dedicated game pads (which are typically slim and not overly expensive), it’s become much easier to game on the typical PC without having to carry around a console or stick controller. Some people prefer the comfort and added convenience of gaming computers (particularly for casual gamers) over console-based consoles simply because they don’t enjoy the amount of control that a keyboard and mouse can provide. Still, most PC gamers agree that most PC games are better than their console counterparts (at least when it comes to graphics and sound). For those who love gaming, owning a gaming computer is almost a must.
