Importance of Wellness – A Better Way to Attain Good Health
Health is an abstract state of mental, physical and social well Being where infirmity and disease are absent. A number of definitions have been used for various purposes since time immemorial. According to Merriam Webster, “health” means the condition of being able to sustain existence; well being in another sense, means the ability to cope with the necessities of life. Some other meanings of health are being well, healthful, sound or complete.
To attain the good health, we need to first of all establish what is the proper definition of health so that we may be able to know what we are doing right in attaining it. For many people, good health means being healthy emotionally and mentally. Mental health is essential for the achievement of physical health, as the latter cannot be attained without mental fitness. It is also important to note that the ability to control one’s emotions as well as manage ones physical environment is an essential part of achieving good health.
The wellness also depends on the kind of relationship one has with one’s partner, community and work colleagues and family members. If you are able to build and cultivate such relationships then it is most likely you are on your way to achieving good health. Wellness also depends on how we respond to health challenges and the kinds of risks we are exposed to. For instance, those who are more health conscious and are less prone to stress and environmental toxins are less susceptible to common illnesses and diseases which can cause major discomfort and even lead to death if not properly treated.
