Games are fun activities that allow people to interact and use their imagination. They have a predictable ending and established rules, and are generally played with people of different social statuses and ages. In addition, they can be a form of competition or a way of indicating status. And they are played for all sorts of reasons, from celebrating birthdays to commemorating a big victory. Regardless of their purpose, there is a game that is right for every member of the family.
Many types of games are popular and widely played. These include video and computer games. Though they are generally undertaken for entertainment, some are also educational and promote good behavior. Although these activities differ from art and work, there are similarities between these two. For example, art is typically characterized by aesthetic elements, whereas many games are categorized as works of art. The distinction between the two should not be taken lightly. Hence, there is no need to feel guilty about playing video games if you are an adult.
The definition of games came into being in 1938 by Johann Huizinga. In 1959, Friedrich Georg Junger defined games as “natural phenomena involving coincidence and activity”. Then in 2008, Manfred Eigen and Ruthild Winkler wrote an essay titled “Games Are Not a Bad Thing” that was based on the study of game design. It is important to understand the differences between games and reality before you start playing one.
