Varieties Of Video Game Types
A video game is typically a controlled form of interactive play, normally undertaken for fun or entertainment, and at times used as an educational instrument. In video games, the player is a protagonist that assumes the role of exploring and experiencing the virtual world in an effort to achieve a specific goal. Games are very different from work, which are often carried out only for recreation, and from fine art, which are almost always an expression of either aesthetic or philosophical elements.
Games have different types and genres according to their varying purposes and audiences. Action is one of the most popular genres of video games, especially games intended for the console, as its name suggests, that involve shooting, fighting, or action. The player gets to take control of the protagonist and do whatever he or she wants to do to achieve a set goal. For example, in a first person shooter, the player controls the character and is the protagonist in the story, going on quests, fighting enemies, solving puzzles, and so forth.
Another popular genre of video game is adventure games, that involve exploration and puzzle solving. These games are very popular among male players, as they usually require players to carry out missions and save the protagonist from various situations. Adventure games allow the player to become the master of his or her avatar, who is an important part of the plot and acts as the protagonist in many video game titles. The third most popular type of game is racing games, that is played by racing enthusiasts, who use a vehicle to go round a virtual world, collecting crates, beating opponents, and so forth. There are endless possibilities of types of games, depending on the type of video game system that one has, the type of entertainment system that one has, the user’s preferences and so forth.
